In 1996, Sifu Wong was invited by the Wushu Training Department of the National Sports Administration of China to attend the "Wing Chun Short-Term Training Class" in Beijing.
That was great, a great honor!
I have been teaching in Panyu District, Guangzhou since 1995 and started teaching in Hong Kong in 2010. From 1974 to 2023, 49 years passed from learning to teaching.
To commemorate “my teacher”, my current boxing gym is called “Chun Wu Yongchun Boxing School” (Chun Wu Ving Tsun Boxing School)*, with the word “Chun” as an emphasis/distinction.
Now the Shun Mo Ving Tsun in China has developed to include Tianjin, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Zhuhai and other branches in addition to the Hong Kong headquarters. There has also been a school in Germany since 2022. We strive to further spread and grow Wong Shun Leung's Ving Tsun.
* "Chun Wu" is composed of the word "Chun" and the word "Wu". "Chun" is derived from the name of Wong Shun Leung. The spelling of his name in pinyin script is "huángchúnliáng" (Wong Shun Leung). The word "Wu" is synonymous with Kung Fu, derived from "Wu Shu". So "Chun Wu Yongchun (Chun Wu Ving Tsun)" could literally be translated as "Wong Shun Leung Ving Tsun. To put it more simply in English, it translates as "Shun Mo Scientific Ving Tsun". The word Scientific was added to the name because the theoretical teaching of Ving Tsun also distinguishes my school.
